SECOR Asset Management appoints David Morton as Head of UK Investment Strategy

14 March 2023: SECOR Asset Management, an independent global investment advisory and risk management firm, today announced it had further enhanced its UK team with the appointment of David Morton as Head of UK Investment Strategy.

Tony Kao, Managing Principal, at SECOR, commented: “The UK market continues to go through a period of evolution which, for some schemes, accelerated exponentially following the LDI crisis of last year. The effects of that period have further drummed home to trustees not only the importance of a bespoke and effective strategy unique to their scheme, but also the importance of being able to take timely action – those that did have benefited hugely.

We have seen a marked increase in interest from schemes who are interested in the benefits a fiduciary partner can bring, and we want to ensure we stay a step ahead when it comes to investment expertise. David has significant experience with both corporate and local authority pension schemes, guiding them through investment strategy decisions and implementing portfolios which meet their objectives. As such, he will add great value by enhancing the service we offer our clients.  Reporting into Scott Freemon (Head of Strategy & Risk) David will further develop the service offering in the UK and work closely with Jason Allan (Head of UK Distribution) to take this to market.”

David added: “SECOR is unique in the market, in that they are truly independent and offer a distinctive, collaborative approach to fiduciary management. As such, they work with clients to implement genuinely innovative and creative solutions, tailored to each client’s specific needs. Their years of in-house investment expertise means they know first-hand the challenges and demands facing schemes and trustees. With an open architecture approach that is unconstrained by company politics, SECOR’s approach ultimately secures the best outcomes for members. I look forward to working with the team and our clients on their investment journey, as well as supporting continued UK growth.”

David joins from Hymans Robertson where he was a Partner and Senior Investment Consultant. As well as being the lead advisor to a range of corporate and local authority schemes, he has had a variety of senior roles including Head of Trustee DB Investment, member of the Executive Leadership Team for the Investment Practice, and latterly Commercial lead for Responsible Investment. David is a qualified actuary (since 2002) and has a BSc in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Heriot-Watt University.
